NAME: Hiroharu Kohaku
AGE:15
GENDER:Male
RACE: Human
RANK:NA
APPEARANCE:
Standing at five feet, seven inches; Haku has a tall and slim build. His icy silver/white hair and tan skin sets him apart from the rest; his nationality is unknown. Haku prefers simple clothing when he is not at school, jeans and his blue sweatshirt normally does it for him; appearance is the last thing on his mind. Regardless if he is working, at home or at school, he wears the same worm piece of cloth over his eyes, hiding them from the outside world.
PERSONALITY:Haku straight forward and down to earth, he prefers to keep it simple; complicating things wastes energy and time; both of which he uses quite well. First impressions would peg him as a quite person, difficult to excite in any way and indifferent to the thoughts and opinions of others, normally giving a logical response without an emotional attachment; he’d prefer if others would just exempt him from any discussion. For those who take the time to make their way into Haku’s personal life, they’d find that he is a nice kid despite his outward attitude. He has a strong set of morals that he acquired from his years in kendo and karate, both cementing a strong sense of self respect and a healthy dose of competitiveness.
WEAPON: Guchinoyami (The darkness of ignorance): A katana given to Haku by his last living relative. It is a brilliantly decorated sword, with an elaborate red design on the sheath. It is of high quality and age, thought to be over three-hundred years old.
ABILITIES:Fullbring - Chimeric Reality: In its very basic form, Haku’s fullbring creates a sensory illusion to whomever he chooses to target. Using memories from his past, he can take specific images, scents, textures… ect to change the appearance of an object or person. For an example; he could make it so an enemy’s weapon would appear, smell and feel like a fish. If Haku is feeling very malicious he could just blind his enemy, the presence of darkness is ever so pronounced in his memories.
When fully developed, Haku can directly insert one person or a group of people’s consciousness into one of his memories, pulling them from one reality into that of another.
Aside from his fullbring, Haku is extremely well versed in kendo and karate; he is second in the country in karate for his age group, and first in kendo. His abnormal level of natural talent has led some to believe that he isn’t actually blind at all, but nothing more than an attempt to gain more attention. Publically Haku himself credits his determination and focus on his success, but deep down he knows there is something else at work. He has an abnormally high level of spiritual power, giving him the ability to see the spiritual signature of others, living or dead. Living people, depending on their nature, shows up in warm hues such as red, while the spirits of the nonliving shows up in cooler tones such as blue. This along with his heightened sense of hearing and touch makes him a formidable combatant.
HISTORY:Early on in his life death seemed to follow Haku where ever he went. First it was his parents, both of them falling victim to a mysterious sickness that almost took his own life, making him an orphan at just three years old. With no immediate family wishing to take custody of the child, Haku was made a ward of the state, given to an orphanage in a city named Karakura. After time things started to turn around for the boy, being studious from early on, he did well in school and made a small close knit group of friends. That was until one fateful day that’d change his life forever.
Field trips were a rarity for the orphanage. With the small amount of surplus cash left over at the end of the year, the administrators of the establishment decided to treat the kids to a day at the aquarium. Haku couldn’t have been more excited. He had never seen tropical fish before aside from pictures in books. It was a rainy day, bad weather which the police would give blame for the accident. The bus had fallen into a ravine, tossing the children and caregivers about the interior like rag dolls. Haku had been ejected from a window and landed a couple of yards from the bus, cut up and bruised, but otherwise in good shape. Looking up for where his body came to rest, he could see the crumpled vehicle, some of the occupants starting to slowly come to. The smell of diesel fuel was heavy in the air, and with smoke pouring out of the engine compartment, it didn’t take long for his young mind to work out what’d come next. Selflessly he rushed back towards the bus, making his way towards a broken out window. Bending down, Haku went to look inside just as the fumes from the fuel ignited, first sending a flash of heat and fire that threw him back off of his feet; screaming as he clutched onto his face in agonizing pain. Later that day he’d wake up in the hospital, the world first appeared covered in a haze; but that’d all soon disappear into darkness. Only colored hazes remained.
In the following nine years Haku would face the world head on in the best way he could. School had turned into a secondary worry with the development of his spiritual power. The colored hazes that he figured to be people soon started to take up a more distinct shape of their own. Martial arts seemed to come naturally to him, quick reflexes and high endurance were gifts that he liberally utilized. These changes were something he kept secret from his adoptive parents; it isn’t easy to tell anyone that you’re seeing ‘ghosts.’ He knew from there on that he’d never again be the same person he was before.
During a hot summer night, Haku was making his way home when he was confronted by a mysterious man who went by the name of Urahara. This stranger claimed to have been observing him for some time, and knew the source of his unnatural abilities. Wanting answers, the boy had seen no other choice than but to follow him. Three years later, Haku now runs important errands for Urahara and is considered a reliable source of information on hollow activities. In return for his services, Haku receivers training and help with his fullbring along with teachings in combat.
OTHER:Haku currently lives with his foster parents in an upper class neighborhood on the outskirts of Karakura.
