The turtle arrancar walked the distance from the door to her lord's throne. Passing by the ornate decor that no longer caught her attention, Mishelle approached the head arrancar and knelt before him.
"Nicciele-sama," she began. "As you already know, I have returned from Soul Society."

Nicciele frowned slightly as his crimson eyes scanned over the paper in his hand, reading quickly but taking in every bit of information he could get from it. It was a report from one of his arrancar within Las Noches, a low-ranking hollow assigned only the most minor of tasks by Aizen, but the information it contained was crucial, invaluable to him.
The arrancar reported what he could of Aizen's creation of arrancar and their ranks, and according to the paper, a new gillian had become a recent addition to his army. Grabbing up a second paper in his free hand, Nicciele skimmed over it, checking its gillian count. It was out of date. Updating it, however, would have to wait until later.
Now, he had an appointment. Mishelle had returned...he could feel her reiatsu as he stepped into his meeting chamber and took his seat. As expected, the female arrancar entered immediately after; Nicciele had little patience for tardiness, and those under his command were always careful to be punctuate.
"Report, then. What have you learned?"
Their work in Soul Society was still preliminary...but Mishelle was intelligent and capable. He had high expectations of her, and he doubted he would be disappointed.

"It would seem that Soul Society is weak at this moment," Mishelle reported with a light, lazy smirk. "The two shinigami I encountered fell quickly without too much of an effort. Though, there was something off about one of them."
Loosening her stance just a bit, she continued with her report as she recalled each moment she spent in Soul Society. To be honest, it was the most fun she'd had doing research. The chocolate-haired arrancar was... happy... that her lord had sent her on such a mission.
"An intriguing dark-haired one, the shinigami was," she resumed. "His reiatsu was a bit different from the other that was with him. It seemed somewhat familiar. Nonetheless, the two were incompetent and I left them soaking in their own blood."
She grinned inwardly as she though back on how she left Riku and Renjiro. It was as if she went through the stages of life where she played with dolls and immediately became an adult, tossing aside the dolls in search of something more intriguing.

Crimson eyes narrowed slightly, almost imperceptibly, subtly evidencing Nicciele's displeasure. "Don't be overconfident," he returned coldly. "The fact that you were noticed at all proves that Soul Society is far from weak. If it would require effort to take down low-ranking shinigami...I wouldn't have sent you."
Knowing one's own strength was important, yes, but putting too much faith in it was foolishness.
He shifted in his seat as she continued her report, posture remaining straight as always, attention not wavering in the slightest. Familiar reiatsu? Weak shinigami or not, that was no piece of information to throw away. Exactly what it meant, Nicciele didn't know, but he made a mental note of it, tucked away for reference later.
Perhaps someone else could be sent to investigate further.
"Is that all, then? You met shinigami, defeated them, and left? Your orders were rather different." There was no irritation to his tone, only simple inquisition. She would have a chance to explain herself before he marked the mission a failure.
"What happened?"

Her lord narrowed his eyes at her, Nicciele was displeased with her in some way. Mishelle lowered her eyes like a disciplined child from the slight change in atmosphere. The last thing she wanted was to displease the one who she held the highest regard for. He spoke to her and the tawny's sleepy gaze met his once more.
"Before I had the chance to finish the two completely, the dark-haired one sent away on of those damnable butterflies," she explained, though if Mishelle showed her true feelings about what happened, her mismatched eyes would be open and she'd be gritting her statements heavily. "I barely had enough time to do what I had done before their backup arrived."
Before Nicciele would say anything else, she bowed deeply to her lord and apologized.
"Forgive me for not being able to complete my mission as you ordered, Nicciele-sama."
Mishelle held her position until she was permitted to stand straight once more.

Irritation flicked across Nicciele's features, but disappeared as quickly as it came, replaced by contemplation. His thoughts were quick - if backup had arrived because of one of the shinigami's jigoku chou, they would have been informed of Mishelle's presence and, therefore, at least one taichou would have been among them. All of Seireitei's leading shinigami, then, would now know of an arrancar's arrival in Soul Society, something that would stir up more than a little alarm on their part. Further efforts in Rukongai would have to be relocated immediately, however...
This development, as strange as it had been, could prove advantageous.
"You've done well enough for this time. Go and await further orders. But Mishelle...take care that you don't take them so lightly."
He lingered in his seat once the arrancar had left, thoughtful. She had, however unintentionally, sown a seed during her trip to Rukongai...and it was Nicciele that now decided how that seed grew, where its thorny branches would spread and tangle. A smirk pulled at his lips.
No, this time, she hadn't failed at all.

Zellse strolled pass the female arrancar having just left Nicciele's chamber. They minded their own business, not even acknowledging each other as they walked down the hall in opposite directions.
Taking his hands out of his pockets, Zellse opened the door to the meeting chamber. On the other side, he spotted their leader, still perched up on his throne. Even from across the spacious room, the smirk on Niccielle's face didn't go unnoticed by Zellse.
His eyes narrowed, wondering what Nicciele was up to; Though the expression was gone as quick as it had come.
Replacing his suspicious stare with a more nonchalant one, he continued to close the distance between them.
"You look like you're in a good mood." Zellse stopped yards away. Not breaking eye contact, he payed Nicciele a short, but respectful bow. Once upright, he took his favorite position, resting his hands in the slits of his hakama.
"I'm back from Las Noches."

The leader of Palida Luna leaned back in his chair, his crimson eyes falling on Zellse as he entered the room. His own expression may have caught his subordinate's attention, but that subordinate's caught his as well. Zellse knew better than to question him. He didn't react, however, choosing to allow the other to speak first; the arrancar had proven himself to be one of Nicciele's most valuable, and to him, loyalty was a considerable part of value.
Disloyalty of any kind, however, was met with punishment of the harshest kind, and he made certain that any in his ranks were acutely aware of it.
"Mishelle's mistake has given us an opportunity," he replied, watching the arrancar. "She was discovered in Rukongai, but the shinigami's alarm works to our advantage."
He didn't elaborate further, not yet. Zellse's work was unique and his reports invaluable, and he wanted whatever information the adjuchas could provide before sending him somewhere else.
"Report, then. Has Aizen taken any action?"

Zellse was only vaguely surprised that the Palida Luna leader divulged in what was creating the expression that he had caught on the way in. So Mishelle made a blunder, did she? How careless. Lucky for her, Nicciele found something salvageable from the mishap.
"I bet the shinigami down there are in quite a tizzy~" Zellse commented, grinning in amusement. He'd have to get the details later however; he was curious as to how Mishelle managed to blow her mission.
Zellse regained his official- (as official as Zellse can get anyway,) demeanor, the grin replaced by a slightly more serious expression to give his report.
"T'ch. Not yet. Everyone is just milling around while Aizen gets his shit together. No significant change since my last report."

"I see."
There was nothing in Nicciele's tone to indicate whether the news pleased or bothered him; in fact, it seemed to do neither. Though his expression remained completely impassive, beneath the surface his thoughts worked at an incredible pace, the advantages and disadvantages to his rapidly forming plan weighing against each other in his mind. There was risk. There was always risk, but now was the time to act. If they delayed, they would lose their chance.
"You have a new assignment." He stood as he spoke. "Retrieve a soul from one of East Rukongai's first districts. Be prepared - the shinigami are on alert for any hollow activity in Soul Society. If one sees you..." He paused, descending the few steps from his chair and apparently thinking as he walked, as his gaze was on the floor. "Let them. But do not engage in battle."
He stopped walking, his eyes flicking up to meet Zellse's, his face as expressionless as ever. "You are to bring the soul back to me as soon as possible. And you are to conduct this mission as one of Aizen's arrancar, do you understand?"
In truth, he wanted Zellse to be seen. He was fraccion to one of Aizen's espada. Facing their second arrancar attack, the shinigami would want to discover the reason for the sudden hollow appearances, and Zellse would lead them right back to their famous traitor. As for Aizen, he would have no reason to suspect that someone had pushed Soul Society to action: he had put the noose around his own neck when he left Seireitei.
The pieces had fallen into place all on their own. They only needed Nicciele's guiding hand to put them together.
"Leave as soon as you are ready."
